This native of Uruguay grows as a cylindrical cactus to a height of about 20 cm and a width of 12 cm. It has yellow flowers which bloom in Springtime. It prefers a part shade to full sun in well-draining soil, with regular watering in Summer and occasional watering in Winter. It is tolerant of occasional frost, if dry, and should be protected from extreme heat.
