A cylindrical cactus native to Chile, growing to about 90 cm in height and 10 cm in width. A highly variable plant, it may be different shades of green in colour, from yellowish to blackish, with spines and flowers that also vary. It enjoys a sunny position in well-draining soil and should be watered only occasionally. Keep completely dry in Winter. It is heat tolerant and frost tolerant if dry.
