This wonderful cactus starts as a flat-topped, rounded plant, but elongates with maturity to form a very large, columnar specimen which can grow to more than 2 metres in height and up to nearly 1 metre in diameter. The flowers are usually a golden yellow. It can be grown in the open garden or in a large container. Once established it is tolerant of hard, hot conditions, but will always benefit from a little regular feeding and watering, especially if container grown. A splendid and rewarding plant!
