Native to the mountains of Argentina, this somewhat variable cactus eventually becomes columnar with a height of over 100cm and a diameter up to 30 cm. It likes a full sun position in well-draining soil, but care should be taken to avoid scorching in very hot weather. It is frost tolerant and should be kept fairly dry in Winter.
