Matucana

The genus Matucana consists of more than 20 species of cacti. They tend to be low-growing and globular or cylindrical in shape. They flower in late Spring and Summer and are mostly red, yellow or pink in colour. They are native to Peru. They should be watered carefully, allowing the soil to dry out between waterings, and protected from extreme heat and cold. They generally require a sunny position in well-draining soil and with good ventilation.
