About us

An avid collector of cacti and succulents from his early teenage years, Lyle Filippe long dreamed of someday owning his own nursery and creating gardens in which his favourite plants could grow to their full potential.

The purchase of Lara Plant Farm in 2001 has realised that dream. In a very short time Lyle has transformed the Nursery into a showcase of unique plants and beautiful gardens, with a large variety of plants both unusual and familiar.

Lyle is supported by his wife Cheryl and a staff of two who bring much knowledge and enthusiasm to the Nursery.

Lyle and Cheryl would like to acknowledge and thank all the many members of staff who have contributed so much over the years to help make the Nursery what it is today.
