Prized collector's plants, Orbeas are closely related to Stapelias. They are native to Africa and produce flowers which smell like carrion, in order to attract flies for pollination. They do very well as a ground cover in the garden, or in wide, shallow containers, or hanging baskets. Most prefer protection from the hot afternoon sun, and do well with just morning sun or late afternoon sun. They are drought hardy and like to grow in a well-draining soil.
