These lovely low-growing or prostrate succulents are commonly known as 'iceplants'. They are native to Africa and have pretty, daisy-like flowers. They are tolerant of drought and salt and do well in coastal gardens. They like a position in the full sun or part shade with a well-draining soil, and don't tolerate hard frosts or prolonged cold. They make an attractive feature in dry gardens, rockeries, or containers, and are excellent for covering banks and walls, and binding sandy soils.
